Tabletop Game Design

Formerly "Fundamentals of Game Design"

Do you like board games, dice games, or card games? Do you have a great idea for a new tabletop game? Tabletop Game Design gives students the opportunity to design and create their own fun and challenging games. Students explore time-tested game mechanics and the production process that takes their idea from concept to reality.

Note: This is a non-digital workshop; students need no knowledge of computers to participate.

Students will learn:
  • The history of games
  • Different game types and genres
  • How randomness and probability influence game mechanics
  • The game production pipeline, including game proposal writing and prototyping

This course is open to students entering Grades 8 through 12.
