R/C Car Racing

In this workshop, participants build their own radio-controlled racing cars and learn how to prepare and tune them for optimum performance out on the track. As you assemble your racer, you will explore the basics of car mechanics, physics, electronics, and radio technology. Participants will learn about essential racing concepts and strategies and go home with their own R/C racers.

You will learn:

  • R/C car mechanical components, including suspension and power train
  • The physics of cars, including velocity, acceleration, friction, and centripetal force
  • R/C car design elements
  • Strategies and techniques for R/C track racing

Note: This is a non-digital workshop; students need no knowledge of computers to participate.

This course is open to students entering Grades 8 through 12.
