R/C Flight

This workshop introduces you to the math and physics principles and mechanical elements of flight, while teaching you how to build and fly a radio-controlled fixed-wing aircraft. You will also be exposed to concepts related to rotary-wing aircraft as you learn to fly small quadcopters.

You will learn:

  • The math and physics of flight
  • Key components of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft
  • Aeronautical engineering principles
  • How to pilot an R/C fixed-wing aircraft

Prerequisites

This course is open to students entering Grades 8 through 12.

Workshop hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students should arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of class. There are free optional after-workshop activities most days from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.*

*Due to the July 4th holiday, Session 1 hours will be 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  After-workshop activities will be from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
