Cyber Security and Encryption

This hands-on workshop explores different ways you can protect your online security, as well as how networked computers communicate with one another and how systems can become compromised. You will learn about data encryption techniques and career opportunities in cyber security.

You will learn:

  • Network vulnerabilities and strategies to protect one’s online identity
  • The math and programming of encryption
  • Online safety practices and ethics

Prerequisites

This course is open to students entering Grades 8 through 12.

Students must have completed both Game Programming Level 1: 2D Video Games or Scholars Computer Science to enroll in this workshop.

Schedule for 2017

Workshop hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students should arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of class. There are free optional after-workshop activities most days from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.*

*Due to the July 4th holiday, Session 1 hours will be 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.  After-workshop activities will be from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
