Cyber Security and Encryption

This hands-on workshop explores different ways students can protect their online security, including how networked computers communicate with one another and how systems can become compromised. Students also learn about data encryption and career opportunities in cyber security.

Students will learn:
  • Network vulnerabilities and strategies to protect one’s online identity
  • Math and programming concepts behind encryption
  • Online safety practices and ethics


This course is open to students entering Grades 8 through 12.

Schedule for 2016

Workshop hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Students should arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of class. There are free optional after-workshop activities most days from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm.*

*Due to the July 4th holiday, Session 2 hours will be 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  After-workshop activities will be from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
