Junior Programming Level 1

This workshop teaches the fundamentals of programming and how following good practices results in solid code. Topics covered include variables, conditional statements, looping and iteration, and arrays. Students use their knowledge of these core concepts to create a series of simple computer games.

Students will learn:

  • Fundamental programming concepts
  • Algebraic expressions and mathematical operators
  • Programming for games

This course is open to students entering Grades 4 through 7.

Schedule for 2017

Junior Workshop hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m – 3:30 p.m. Students should arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of class. There are free optional after-workshop activities most days from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm.*

*Due to the July 4th holiday, Session 1 hours will be 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  After-workshop activities will be from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
