Junior Art and Animation Level 2

Building on the knowledge and experience gained in Level 1 of this course, students are introduced to the traditions of creating engaging character animations. Using both digital and non-digital media, students explore human, animal, and inanimate object-based character animation. Students will also consider issues of personality and story interaction as they produce their animated shorts.

Students will learn:

  • Character design and animation production processes
  • Storytelling and emotional expression through body language
  • Figurative gesture drawing
  • Fundamentals of 2D computer character rigging and animation

This course is open to students in Grades 4 through 7.

Students must have completed Junior Art and Animation Level 1 to enroll in this workshop.

Junior Workshop hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m – 3:30 p.m. Students should arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of class. There are free optional after-workshop activities most days from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm.*

*Due to the July 4th holiday, Session 1 hours will be 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  After-workshop activities will be from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
