This workshop is ideal for any student who wants to take an idea for a 2D video game and make it a reality. This workshop examines basic programming techniques, but also looks at the other disciplines needed to create a game, including game design, art production, and sound design. Students will gain not only a new appreciation for the hard work that went into making their favorite games, but also the tools to start bringing their own game ideas to life. Students will learn the video game production process, including writing design documents, game testing, and problem solving. Students will also learn game design principles, including game balance and effective interface design, coding basics such as variables, conditionals, iterations, and functions, and art production processes and tools.
This course is open to students in Grades 8 through 12. There are no academic prerequisites for this course.

The tuition for Video Game Development Level 1 is $595 per 16-week session. A $195 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. The remaining $400 must be paid by the registration deadline.
