Producing quality artwork depends on developing a fluency with the language of art and learning the principles of organizing the elements in a particular piece. This course gives students a strong foundation of art techniques and knowledge from which they can peruse their creative endeavors. Students are exposed to the artistic works of the masters and learn to appreciate the rich and diverse forms of art produced around the world. No prior artistic skills are necessary. Students will learn art elements such as lines, shapes, values, colors, textures and spaces, while learning fundamental art principles and essential drawing techniques with different media including charcoal, paint, and clay.
All materials and books will be included in the additional course materials fee ($75), which is due upon registration, along with the $195 deposit.
This course is open to students in Grades 4 through 7. There are no academic prerequisites for this course.

The tuition for Junior Art Essentials is $595 per 16-week session. A $195 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. This workshop requires a $75 materials fee also due upon registration. The remaining $400 must be paid by the registration deadline.
