Summer Job Opportunities

DigiPen Institute of Technology's K-12 Department is hiring for our ProjectFUN Summer Workshops. We are looking for lead teachers, teaching assistants, lead activities coordinators, activities coordinators, and administrative assistants to represent DigiPen, to oversee student engagement in learning, and to create a safe and professional learning environment. We need candidates who are enthusiastic, flexible, eager to learn, and able to remain professional at all times.   • Training: May 31st – June 10th (may offer evening/weekend trainings for those still in school)
  • Summer Workshops will run from June 20th – August 12th
  • Hours: 7:00am – 6:00pm, hours vary depending on position (40 hours max.)

Job Positions

Lead Teacher

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent DigiPen to all students, parents and peers
  • Teach students DigiPen approved curriculum
  • Engage all students in active learning
  • Maintain a safe, productive, friendly environment for all
  • Communicate with parents, peers, administrators, and students quickly and effectively
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Attributes:

  • Extensive knowledge in computer science, art and animation, game design, engineering, and/or music and sound design
  • Record of completing assigned work on time and to scope
  • Eagerness to grow and learn
  • Ability to change plans quickly and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • A service oriented attitude

Bonus Skills/Attributes:

  • Previous experience with K-12 students
  • Leadership or presentation experience
  • Teaching experience

Desired Skills:

We are seeking intermediate or higher knowledge in one or more of the areas within the subjects listed.

 

 

Programming

  • C (variables, iteration, conditionals, pointers, arrays, functions, derived data types, and basic searching and sorting)
  • Java (variables, iteration, conditionals, arrays, functions, derived data types, basic searching and sorting, classes and object oriented principles)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

 

 

Art and Animation

  • 12 Principles of animation
  • Maya
  • Art fundamentals (perspective, shading, form, and color theory)
  • Intermediate music and sound design (digital recording experience strongly preferred)
  • Ability to learn new software quickly
  • Costuming, performance art, or puppetry

 

 

Game Design

  • Basic programming skills in any high-level language (variable, iteration, conditionals, and functions)
  • Enthusiastic and frequent player of tabletop and video games
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

 

 

Engineering

  • Intermediate knowledge of Arduino programming
  • Basic electronics and breadboarding skills
  • Physics (mechanical)
  • Basic R/C Flight or Car experience (for flight, intermediate experience is strongly preferred)
  • Basic model rocketry experience (intermediate preferred)

Young Explorers (Grades 1-3)

  • Basic art and animation skills
  • Ability to learn new software quickly

 

Salary: $15-$16 per hour (salaries may be higher based on experience and for off-site positions)

Teacher's Assistant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent DigiPen to all students, parents and peers
  • Assist the teacher with the instruction of DigiPen approved curriculum and classroom management
  • Engage all students in active learning
  • Maintain a safe, productive, friendly environment for all
  • Communicate with parents, peers, administrators, and students quickly and effectively
  • Other duties as assigned

Lead Activities Coordinator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent DigiPen to all students, parents, and peers
  • Set-up, implement, and lead activities sessions for all ages
  • Plan extra activities and events, as needed
  • Assist with the management of the Activities Coordinator staff
  • Develop and lead the Activities Department training
  • Oversee an assigned area of the Activities Department
  • Attend Lead Activities Team meetings, as needed
  • Continuously look for areas of improvement to offer the ideal student experience
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills/Attributes:

  • Previous experience as a ProjectFUN Activities Coordinator
  • Ability to engage students and generate enthusiasm
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Salary: $15-$16 per hour

Activities Coordinator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent DigiPen to all students, parents, and peers
  • Ensure student engagement and an optimal ProjectFUN Activities experience
  • Set-up and implement activities sessions for all ages
  • Assist the K-12 Team with student check-in and with operating the sign-in table in the lobby
  • Manage daily lunchtime procedures, such as monitoring the flow of the lunch lines
  • Operate the Express Drop-off and Pick-up
  • Guard all of the building exits to ensure student safety
  • Assist the K-12 Team and other DigiPen Departments with administrative tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.

Administrative Assistant

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent DigiPen to all students, parents, and peers
  • Assist the K-12 Team with the daily front office operations
  • Assist the K-12 Team with student check-in and attendance
  • Prepare classroom materials and ensure they are distributed to all teaching staff
  • Help to answer student, staff, and parent questions
  • Support in the preparation of key events such as the BBQ and the Student Showcase
  • Substitute in the classroom for teaching staff, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

DigiPen's ProjectFUN offers workshops, camps and college prep courses for kids and teens. Technology courses are held in Redmond, WA (near Seattle and Bellevue), and online.
